Right now in today’s economy businesses will do and say just about anything to bring in new business. The horror stories in the SEO industry really never slow down and people seem to still fall into the trap of the “guaranteed rankings” promises. I know I might get some flack over this from certain SEO people out there but I think it is important to realize that nobody can guarantee any sort of search engine rankings. Simply getting visitors to come to your website is not enough. The trick is to convince these people to engage with your business. You need to convert these visitors into leads and then into paying customers. If they haven’t arrived ready to buy, then you need to convince them to leave their email address so that you can continue to market to them.

Whatever the action is that you want your visitors to take, you need to design a conversion path into your website.

  1. Visitor: Start by clearly understanding your audience and why they are coming to your website. Visitors come searching for something. You need to understand their question or their need and then have the answer waiting for them as soon as they arrive.
